Gorilla Covers

Entirely Gratuitous  Gorillas
King Kong and Tarzan gorilla covers are all well and good, but the best gorilla covers are when the apes show up in ridiculous places for no coherent reason except that gorilla covers sell. Okay, Gorilla Grodd is a staple villain in The Flash, but there is absolutely no logical reason for Brainiac 5 to be evolving into a gorilla on the cover of Adventure #330. I love the Tomahawk comic, with the Daniel-Boone guys taking a break from fighting the Revolutionary War to truss up a pesky giant gorilla. But the all-time best gorilla cover has to be Joe Kubert's Sgt. Gorilla. Wow.
